Read who took the exam
A pass rate describes a defined group during a defined period. Education, experience, selection, and repeat attempts affect the result.
NCLEX-RN's figure covers first-time U.S.-educated candidates. USMLE Step 1's figure covers first-time U.S. MD-school examinees. CFA Level I's figure includes all candidates in one global window. Those are different denominators.
Check the version and unit
ASWB's 2025 rate predates the current 2026 blueprint and question count. CPA reports section results, not one rate for all four sections. Neither should be relabeled as a current individual completion probability.
Some outcomes are scores
LSAT and MCAT report admissions scores rather than a universal passing threshold. A minimum scaled passing score is also different from a population pass rate.
Make a preparation plan
- Read the current outline and identify unfamiliar topics.
- Practice the actual item formats.
- Plan around content time, appointment length, or separate sections as appropriate.
- Check compatible candidate groups before interpreting an outcome difference.
